3 Things, January 27

Tonight’s entry is a quickie, and these are all things I am profoundly grateful for:

  1. My sweet, smart husband who not only helped me figure out the first and crucial chapter of the novel I am working on–I’ve written so much, but so far have had no first chapter–but also drove to Buddy’s convenience store tonight at 10 pm to get me a beer, just because I was really craving one.
  2. My wickedly funny mother who spent 30 minutes on the phone with me today, reading me old recipes from her small town cookbooks.  Recipes I used to make fun of (chicken kiev, gelled cucumber salad), but now think sound pretty damn good.
  3. Living in America with Barack Obama as our president.  Thank you, Obama, for rolling back George W. Bush’s power grabs.  Man, do I feel better with you in charge.
