3 Things, December 19

  1. Finally (knock wood, cross fingers, throw salt over my right shoulder) getting rid of all of the ants in the kitchen.  Which I guess proves that poison *does* work, and also pretty much negates all of the effort I’ve put into using non-toxic, eco-friendly dishwashing soaps and countertop sprays.
  2. Having the handyman, who came to seal up the space in the kitchen where the ants were getting in, inform me that he also happens to be a pet psychic, just when I really, really needed one.  (Zippy, the tiniest of our animals, has started peeing aggressively on the 65 pound dog’s bed. Bad for the dog and bad for us because cat pee is just gross.  And come on, the one and only thing cats do in exchange for being housed, fed and loved is agree to pee in their damn box.)
  3. Working on novel #2 in my heavenly new home office, which is so clean and organized it makes me feel as if I am the type of person to turn in papers early and score J’s and T’s on the Myers-Briggs test.
